In today's high-throughput food manufacturing environments, quality control and product safety are non-negotiable. With tightening food safety regulations and growing consumer expectations, manufacturers must adopt advanced inspection systems that leave no margin for error. The Double Head Metal Detection System is a cutting-edge solution designed to enhance detection accuracy, reduce false rejects, and maximize contaminant identification in food processing lines.
Equipped with two independent detection heads, this system provides dual-zone scanning, ensuring that even the smallest metallic contaminants are located and removed before they can impact product quality, safety, or compliance.
A double head metal detector-also called a dual-sensor metal detection system-features two detection coils placed either in parallel or sequentially, depending on the product flow and application. This configuration provides:
Increased detection sensitivity
Better coverage for uneven or multi-lane product flows
Enhanced reliability across diverse food textures, densities, and packaging formats
Used across various stages in the food production pipeline, double-head systems significantly improve contaminant detection in high-speed lines where single-head systems may not suffice.
The double head metal detection system is ideal for manufacturers requiring uncompromising accuracy in critical control points. Common application areas include:
Processed Meat & Poultry
Sausages, patties, nuggets, cold cuts, ground meat
Bakery & Confectionery
Filled biscuits, bread rolls, pastries, chocolate bars
Seafood Processing
Fish fillets, frozen shrimp, surimi products
Dairy Products
Packaged cheese, butter, and milk powder
Snack Foods
Multi-lane chips, crackers, coated nuts
Frozen Meals
Ready-to-eat trays, dumplings, pizza
Multi-Lane or Large Tray Products
Where product width exceeds standard detection zones
Two detection zones ensure full coverage of the product, whether flowing in parallel lanes (e.g., snacks on multi-lane conveyors) or stacked vertical formats (e.g., layered trays or bulk-packed items).
Each detection head is independently calibrated, allowing for micro-contaminant detection-as small as:
Fe: 0.3 mm
SUS: 0.5 mm
Non-Fe: 0.4 mm
Adaptive frequency tuning and signal filtering reduce interference from:
Product moisture
Salt content
Variable packaging materials (foil, metallized film)
Quick setup for each lane or zone with automatic sensitivity adjustment based on product effect. Ideal for manufacturers handling multiple SKUs or shift changes.
Rugged, food-grade construction suitable for wet washdown environments in meat, seafood, and dairy plants.
Intuitive 7" or 10" HMI panel for:
Dual-zone monitoring
Fault logs and inspection history
Multi-language support
Password-protected access
Supports:
Side-by-side parallel conveyors
Layered product streams
Split belt systems
Each head can activate an independent air blast, pusher arm, or flap gate to isolate the contaminated product section without stopping the entire line.

Products enter the metal detector on dual lanes or in a wide tray format.
Each metal detector head scans independently and in real-time using its own electromagnetic field.
If metal is detected in either lane or zone:
The system activates the respective reject mechanism on that side or tray.
The contaminated portion is removed from the line without affecting the other lane or batch.
All data is logged for audit traceability and QA compliance.
No more blind spots-each product lane is individually scanned and controlled.
Optimized for high-throughput production lines without slowing down conveyors.
Perfect for detecting contaminants in large-volume or wide-format food trays and packaging.
Supports certifications for BRC, IFS, GFSI, ISO 22000, and FDA regulations.
Two detection zones reduce the need for stopping the line and isolate contaminated product more precisely.
Checkweigher integration for weight and contaminant control
Reject confirmation sensors with audit trail
Hygienic reject bins with lock and sensor alerts
Light tower with status indicators
Multi-product auto-switching
Central control for multiple lines
Remote diagnostics and IoT connectivity

Food processors are required to detect foreign objects. This is because inspection personnel face increased pressure to ensure food safety regulatory compliance and productivity. Food processors now have to respond quickly to changing demand for at-home meals. This includes frozen and processed foods that are shelf-stable.
Metals like ferrous, nonferrous, and stainless-steel shavings, or pieces of equipment, are the most frequent foreign objects in food processing plants. Food processors are required to identify foreign objects that could be introduced into the food processing process as part of HACCP assessments. They also need to ensure that metal detectors are in place to prevent food product contamination.
Metal detection has been used for years to find foreign metal objects in food. Metal detection has had its flaws until recently. Mineral-rich foods such as fresh salad greens or high-salt foods such as meat, cheese, and fresh-baked bread are highly conductive and can mimic metallic signals. Metal detectors are also vulnerable to environmental conditions such as temperature swings or electromagnetic interference from nearby equipment. It is also difficult to avoid false rejects which can lead to costly scrap and rework that could impact operational efficiency.
Bread is not the only subject of concern. Each loaf has its own physical characteristics, including air bubbles, densities and physical characteristics. Metal detectors can be confused by variations and think a contaminant exists, rejecting good products.
