Food processing plants are most concerned about foreign objects such as nonferrous, ferrous and stainless-steel shavings. Food processors must determine where foreign objects might enter their process. This is done as part of the HACCP assessment.
Industrial Metal Detector for Food Processing
Food grade metal detectors are widely used in the food processing industry. These detectors are used to detect and remove foreign material from food products. The metal detector is a tool used to detect any foreign material that may be present in food or beverage products. The metal detector is also used to ensure that only approved materials are used during the manufacturing process.
Industrial Metal Detector for Food Processing
Metal detectors are also used for quality control purposes during manufacturing processes. It is important for manufacturers to have a reliable way of detecting any foreign objects that could potentially cause damage during production or storage of their products. This ensures that no harmful contaminants enter into their product range and pose a threat to consumers' health.
Types of Metal Detector Technology
There are two types of technology used in industrial metal detectors: ionic and current density based systems. Ionic technologies use an electromagnetic field generated by a charged conductor, which passes through an ionized gas located between two electrodes. A voltage is applied across these electrodes which creates a potential difference between them, creating an electric field within the gas between them which can then be detected by sensors attached within it. However
Metal detection is a long-standing tool used to detect foreign metals in food. But, until recently, the accuracy of metal detection was not perfect. Mineral-rich foods, such as fresh salads and high-salt foods, like meat, cheese, and fresh bread, are highly conductive, and can mimic metal signals. Metal detectors can also be affected by environmental conditions, such as temperature swings and electromagnetic interference. It's also challenging to avoid false rejections that can increase scrap costs or cause rework which could have a negative impact on operational efficiency.
Bread has a unique problem due to the different densities, air bubbles, and other physical characteristics. No two loaf are the same. These variations can confuse metal detectors and lead to them rejecting good products.
