Food industry safety concerns include the contamination of food by metal shards during processing. This purpose-specific metal detectors are used extensively and integrated into the production process.
Current practice at garment- and apparel industry plants involves applying metal detecting before garments get packed. It is used to detect metal contamination (needle break, etc.). in the garments. This is for safety reasons.
It is useful for detecting metals from clothing, food, and chemicals in field requirements.

Basic Principle
The basic principle for operation of the food/industraial/metal detection system is based on a 3-coil design. This design employs an amplifier modulated transmitting coil and two receiving coils, one on each side. The design and physical configurations of the receiving coils play a crucial role in the detection ability of very small metal contaminations of less than 1mm. Modern metal detectors still employ this configuration to detect tramp iron.
The coil configuration allows for product to pass through the opening. The coils can be passed through. This opening or aperture allows product to enter and leave the three coil system. The two receiving coils receive a mirror image of the signal. These signals are then combined effectively nullifying the other.

Metaldetectors also have receiving coils, which continuously analyze the magnetic field in the inspection area.
The magnetic field in the metaldetector induces electric currents in metalmoving through it. This is the case for the coin illustrated in the illustration. The opposite current can be picked up by a receiving coil because the eddy currents create a smaller magnetic field (shown red). This signal is detected by the metaldetectoris, who will alert the inspector to any presence of metal in the area.
Metaldetectorsforthefoodindustry work with the same principle, and use the conductivity of most metalcontaminants to perform reliable inspections.
What metals can metaldetectorsfind?
A metaldetectorforfoodcan detect a wide range of metalcontaminants and conductive materials, including both ferrous and nonferrous metals, and some other conductive compounds. While ferrous metals contain iron and are conductive, many of them are made up of carbon or other elements with iron. All types of steel can be classified as ferrous metals. They contain iron and are magnetic. However, many nonferrous metals include copper, nickel and tin. You can also detect stainless steel, though with different levels of sensitivity depending upon its specific composition.
Inline metaldetectors can detect all types of metal. The conductivity of the metal and the conductivity as well as the size of the product being examined will determine the exact amount. An inline metaldetector can detect metalparticles with high conductivity.
Which products can be inspected using a foodindustry-metectorsystem
An inline metaldetector can inspect almost all kinds of food and beverage products, provided they aren't packaged with any metallicmaterial. Metaldetection is possible to inspect harvested goods, snacks, bakery items, proteins, frozen foods, and other food products. This means that most packaged foodproducts can easily be inspected using a standard foodmetaldetector.
Products that are packaged in metallizedfoil or metalcontainers or with metallicinserts should not be inspected by foodgrade metaldetectors. This can lead to high false-reject rates (products that have no contaminants) or reduced sensitivities for true foreign bodies. Because x-ray doesn't rely on conductivity, X-ray inspection is the best method to inspect products that have metallicelements.
